Essence of Christmas

     The  origin  of this practice is a little obscure. However, it's believed that an English admiral first used the term  Merry Christmas  in an informal letter, way back in 1699. In the same era, the phrase was used in non-religious  Christmas  song 'We wish you a  Merry Christmas ', which is still popular today.        Christmas  is celebrated to remember the birth of of Jesus Christ, who Christians believe is the Son of God. The name ' Christmas ' comes from the Mass of Christ (or Jesus). A Mass service (which is sometimes called Communion or Eucharist) is where Christians remember that Jesus died for us and then came back to life.    The  Christmas  gift reminds us of how God gave us the gift of His Son and that Jesus Christ gave us the greatest gift of all.
